Here is a guacamole recipe that is so easy to make that you’ll wonder why you never made it from scratch before! Every person who loves Mexican food will rave about your guac!
The key to a great guacamole is to use all real and fresh ingredients. And, of course, the garlic needs to be a major feature!
2 soft avocados
2 slices yellow onion, chopped
1 fresh lime
1 garlic clove, minced
¼ teaspoon salt
1 fresh tomato, chopped
Use a knife to cut around the avocados so they are halved. Use a spoon to scoop out the pit and scoop out the avocado meat into a bowl.
Juice the lime with a reamer over the bowl.
Add onion, garlic and salt.
Use a potato masher to mash it up until it is smooth.
Stir in the chopped tomato with a spoon.
You can add a little bit of chopped jalapeno pepper if you’d like to spice it up, but the garlic adds its own kind of strong spice. So, peppers might not be necessary.
It is a myth that saving the pits and adding it to the guacamole keeps it from browning. The only thing they do is fill the bowl so there is less air. It is the air that makes it brown. So, use the smallest bowl possible and an airtight lid, if you somehow end up with leftovers.
Guacamole doesn’t keep well, so it is important that you make only what you will eat in a day. If you keep it in a small, airtight container then you should get 2 or 3 days out of it, but it isn’t ideal.
This guacamole recipe should be a huge hit with your friends the next time they come over.
