Of course, when you’re having friends over for a party, you will want to serve only the very best. When they speak of the fun they had at your party, they’ll mention how you make the best margaritas! There are some tricks to making the best.
The most important part of making the perfect margarita is to remember that you need to use the best ingredients. This means, you’ll be tossing out your favorite margarita mix. Yes, just plop that Mr. & Mrs. T mix in the trash. You are working your way up to most popular bartender here.
What you need first is a basket of limes. Yes, limes. The recently picked, little green fruit from a real live tree. If you’re having a party, stop by Costco and load up. Get a citrus juicer while you’re there.
For most margarita occasions, you’ll be making them for just a couple of people. So, a wooden reamer is all you need to juice them. You can find this little item in a gourmet shop, if your grocery store doesn’t carry them. For parties, you’ll need a juice press.
For the tequila, make sure you use only bottles labeled 100% Agave Blanco Tequila. For the Triple Sec, use Cointreau. Between those two changes in your program, you’ll improve taste immensely.
Always have a homemade simple syrup on hand. Mix 1 cup of cane sugar (read the bag to make sure it is from cane) with 1 cup water in a sauce pot. Mix until it comes to a boil. Remove from heat to cool. Store in the refrigerator.
2 oz Tequila
1 oz fresh lime
3/4 oz Cointreau
1 tsp simple syrup
Rub a juiced lime on the rim of the glasses then press the rim into a plate of salt. Put all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake and strain the margaritas into the salted glasses. Salud!
