Strawberries are in season in Northern California right now and that means you can make the best margaritas! There is no finer margarita that is made from the best, the freshest ingredients. Here is a favorite recipe that will help you make the perfect strawberry cocktail.
This time of year in Sunnyvale, CA, strawberries are in season. So, from now until August, you can make some spectacular strawberry margaritas. Here is a fine recipe for them that will impress your guests.
1 pound fresh, cleaned, hulled strawberries
1 cup white tequila
2/3rd cup squeezed lime juice
½ cup of agave syrup
¼ cup Triple Sec
Sugar or salt to rim the glasses
Put all of the ingredients into your blender and pulse blend until smooth. Let the mix sit for 5 minutes then scrape off the foam and run through a strainer to remove the seeds. Store mixture in the refrigerator and use as needed.
To make the margarita, first wet the rim of the glass. Dip the rim into a plate of sugar (or salt). Set it next to the blender.
Put a handful of ice into your blender, pour 1 cup of strawberry mixture into the blender then mix on low until the ice breaks up. Flip it to the high setting to get a slushy margarita.
If your blender is not a heavy duty blender that is made for crushing ice then make them on the rocks. Sugar the rim of the glass, fill with ice and pour the margarita mixture over the ice then serve.
